09:20 am: *blinks* Woah, it's Monday again. How does that happen?

'Twas a weekend of outings in the strange land of Brooklyn, watching lots of movies (yay netflix) and recovering from increadible hangovers. Whee! Finally saw Tipping the Velvet, and oh, how I loved it (thanks [info]vylit for the rec). I always forget the difference between U.S. and U.K. censorship, b/c dude that was a lot of explicit, hot, girlsex for a made-for-tv mini-series. Mmmmm.... Also? I will not be able to watch Spooks again without seeing her as a hot cross-dressing dyke.

Also I made my first pot roast and it was a resounding success. Marinated for 2 days in soy sauce and balsalmic vinegar with lots of spices, then slow cooked for a little over 3 hours => very tasty.

Current Mood: crankyMonday-ish

Hey, I recommended Tipping the Velvet too!

I also recommend, generally, the works of Sarah Waters -- but only if you like Victorian roman a clefs with lesbians. :)

Hee, indeed you did and with good reason (despite overly large helping of melodrama).

*makes note* Thanks!

Particularly I would recommend Fingersmith, of what I've read.

I do my best to encourage the girl/girl lovin'. It's for a good cause.

For sure. On that note, do you have any other girl/girl movies to rec? It occurred to me while I was watching TtV that despite its melodrama, it was the best lesbian flick I could remember seeing. Which seemed wrong somehow.

I wish. There are so few that are really good, but I would suggest High Art on the off chance you haven't seen it yet.

It's already in my Netflix queue. *grins* I keep hoping that there is some femmeslashy version of A Touch of Pink or the like out there. I want cute and funny and fun and gay without too much angst (*gasp*). Is this too much to ask? *pouts*

HAHAHA! Good luck with that. ;) But, you know, if you do find it, let me know.

I know a lot of people really like Better Than Chocolate, but it's... just not believable. The characters fall in love in five minutes and everything has a rather pat ending. It is, however, cute, and the two main female characters... dafd;askfjasdfjasdl;kfjaoeifjalsdk!!

It's not something that I'd rec, but it doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out either.

Oh trust me. I will probably have a celebratory party or something. *grins*

I really disliked Better than Chocolate. After I was done watching it I ranted and raved for a while about 'this is what happens when you let canadians make femmeslash', which admittedly was blatantly unfair. I just really was not a fan. Bleh.
